I've been working on the new onboarding flow and I think I finally cracked the navigation structure. There are 4 screens instead of the original 7 — feels way cleaner.

Removed the preferences screen (moved to settings), merged the two profile steps, and killed the tutorial overlay — it was annoying anyway.

Skeleton for sure. Spinners feel dated for list content. Skeleton gives users a sense of what's coming.

Agreed. I'll add that to the spec. Last thing — what color should the unread badge be? Red feels aggressive.

Red is fine for DMs — it signals urgency which is what we want. Maybe tone it down to a softer red instead of full #ed4245.
